It’s no surprise that gyms and trainers have been forced to move business online. Online personal training has blown up with the recent events and many argue it’s here to stay.
Heck, I’m even offering it myself! It was always an option for my clients but no one really took me up on it until being able to work out in the gym wasn’t possible.
I can honestly say I’m really loving the transition. Clients are able to feel comfortable in their own homes, with no commute to get to and from. And with the way technology works these days the quality of the workouts is the same, if not better than in person.
What are the benefits of online personal training?
The benefits seem to outweigh the disadvantages when it comes to online fitness. Not only can you log in from practically anywhere, but you also feel comfortable working out in a space you’re familiar with, and as well you’ll probably be saving some money too (a lot of online personal training is cheaper than the usual in-person rates).
Also, since you’re not together in the same room, chances are the direction you’ll be getting from your trainer on how to perform certain exercises will be a lot clearer.
What are the drawbacks of online personal training?
There are some because no system is perfect. If you know you need someone like a trainer or workout partner to help you stay motivated, things like downloadable courses and apps where you need to be a self-starter may not help you. If you are a self-starter there are many apps you can download, or look for a personal trainer in your area who may be offering free content at the moment.
If you know you’re going to need more of a 1-on-1 personalized approach then online personal training with a certified coach is your best bet to keep you motivated and focused.
